Are People Crazy During Full Moons?

The answer is that people are crazy with fears, traditional bullshit, and irrational thoughts pretty much all the time.  The planets have nothing to do with it.  Then why, you may ask, does the moon have a gravitational effect on tides?  Tides affect oceans – 80% of the earth’s surface – every day of the year.  NOW we’re talking some planet-to-planet strength!  But even this force does not cause large water flows in smaller bodies of water like the Great Lakes.

There’s never been an accepted scientific study proving the moon has any relationship to “loonies” (even though that term comes from ‘lunar’).

“Moonies Make People Crazy”

It’s been estimated that over 15,000 people per year “moon” Amtrak trains across the country.  And there’s a small town in Southern California that celebrates a “Moon Amtrak Festival”.

True, the moon has no actual physical effect on us, and crazies are crazy all of the time. Even so, some crazy people believe the moon has a pernicious effect on them, and they will act out their craziness a bit more aggressively during a full moon. It’s not the moon’s fault, but it does happen.

I just want to know one thing. Every month, on the morning following a full moon, my beard is four inches long. What’s up with that?

Jailhouses have full houses on the nights of the full moon-Lake Ontario DOES have a tide.
BILL-You need to measure the growth the next day, not after the NEXT full moon. NOT moon to moon.

I’m surprised I couldn’t find anything about a rise in crime (break-ins, burglaries) on full moon nights because of the increase in “light”. It’s got to be harder to jimmy a window in the dark – or use a flashlight. You can see a lot using moonlight. I guess nobody has studied my theory.

Yeah, breaking into a home probably would be easier during the full moon. Trouble is, it’s also easier for some pain in the ass neighbor or passerby see you do it.

  5. This is a smart blog. I mean it. You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses. Youve got a design here thats not too flashy, but makes a statement as big as what youre saying. Great job, indeed.
